The Kitchen Cabinets

I received a request back in March from a client in Northern California asking me to create artwork for her kitchen cabinet inserts.  She likes the flora and fauna of Northern California and we discussed various themes back and forth.  All along she was strong on the sunflowers and California poppies and that is what we ended up with.  I sent four of the six panels to her – photo below – and the last two panels will also feature a mamma quail with her babies in silhouette…  that is is my project for this week!

  1. Love your work, Kim! What a great way to breathe life into old cabinets. Your work with copper is phenomenal, plus copper is a great accent in the kitchen. Wonderful job.

  2. The panels are amazing. Very creative work. Hope we will see the mamma quail and her babies. If its anything like the sunflowes and poppies it will be exquisite. Well done.

Thank you for the compliments! I have posted pictures of the quail pieces as they are being completed. My client wanted the quails to be subtle, so no paint for them… just a little fire for color. I like that they don’t pop out at you right away… you have to look for a minute to see them.

Home decorating could be such fun if you go with what you love and find it pleasing to you and your significants others. If you just decorate for fashion, it will constantly be outdated before the year is out. Create with you heart.
